PEEWEE and ATOM RULES
EQUPMENT
- Molded sole sneakers or cleats only – No metal cleats
- Mouth guards and assigned equipment must be worn
- Smaller official NRNIFA ball to be used (Wilson TDY)
TIME PERIOD
- Four 12 minute quarters running time with the following exceptions:
- Stop time for last 2 minutes of 2nd and 4th quarters
- Stop time at change of possession, scoring plays and injury
- Each team has 20 seconds in the huddle
- Time will be kept by the game or league officials
- Three 1 minute time outs per half per team
- Game officials discretion to provide teams water breaks in hot weather
- No overtime for regular season play
SCORING
- Exceptions to scoring rules:
- Conversion (Run/Pass) 1 point
- Conversion (Kick) 2 points
GAME
- Kick-off at kicking team’s 45 yard line
- Scoring team puts ball in play at mid-field following safety
- Only 2 players can be substituted for punts, field goals and conversions
- No player over the Centre on punts, field goals and kicked conversions
- All field goals and kicked conversions to be at south end of soccer fields
- Must be 7 players on the line of scrimmage
- One yard neutral zone must be maintained
- Fast whistle policy recommended for officials
- Grade 9 players restricted as follows:
- Cannot line up in offensive backfield except at QB
- QB cannot cross line of scrimmage with the ball
- WR/SB/TE must catch passes over the line of scrimmage
- Cannot take the ball in a hand-off
- Cannot return kicks or punts
- Illegal plays (Grade 9) loss of down at original line of scrimmage
- Coach must escort injured player off the field if time called for injury
FAIR PLAY
- Every player must have a designated role on offense or defense
- Over 30 players: All players must play every other series on offense or defense
- No player can play both ways in a half
- Under 30 players:
- All players must play every other series on offense or defense
- All players must have approximately the same number of total plays
- 7 players must have 2 touches per game in PeeWee
- 6 players must have 2 touches per game in Atom
- Pass in the vicinity counts as touch
- Each team to monitor fair play of opposing team
TYKE RULES
EQUPMENT
- Shoes — Only sneakers or shoes with molded soles or molded cleats are allowed ( no flat soled sneakers).
- No metal cleats
- Ball - A smaller official NRNIFA — Wi!son TDY ball is to be used and must lie properly inflated
- Mouth guards and other equipment must he worn
TIME PERIOD
- Play is (2) 25 minute halfs with (1) 10 minute halftime
- the officials will keep time on the field
- there will he no overtime
- there will (3) 2 minute time outs per half per team.
GAME SPECIFICS
- playing field shall be between 30 and 45 yards in width
- 70 to 110 yards in length
- end zones shall be between 5 and 15 yards deep.
- no requirement for goal posts
- Coaches will he given sample offensive and defensive plays for optional use.
- a one yard neutral zone must he maintained between the offensive and defensive line
- Team are allowed and encouraged to have a maximum of 3 coaches on the field at a time away from interfering
- Official uses bean bags for markers, no stick crew
- Throwing TDs are 7 pts, interception for a TD is 7 pts, all running TDs are 6pts
- High Tackle; Player tackles player around the neck area or by the helmet. Penalty to be nominal 15 yard penalty.
- On 4th down have the option to punt, go for it, put the ball 25 yards ahead; have to declare
- there must he 5 players on the offensive line of scrimmage
- NO Blitzing of linebackers is allowed
- all other rules will be enforced by the “Canadian Rule Book For Tackle Football”
- ON AN INJURY STOPPAGE IN PLAY. A COACH MUST ESCORT THE PLAYER OFF THE FIELD.
